A Sunday Evening

Today is Sunday.
I went to church at noon time and came back home after fellowship.
I reached home at about 6pm.
Mum was asleep and so our family did not dine together at the Zi Char stall downstairs.
After keying in the Attn, I started to facebook!
Ever since my Blackberry broke down (on Saturday), I cannot access to fb or emails instantly anymore!
At first I was truly not used to it. However, this gave me time to do self-reflection and pray at home. So it is still good that our electronic gadgets break down at times so that we can have ample time to pray, read the bible, which so often we neglect due to things like handphone, SMS-es, emails, facebook, etc which steal all our attention away.
Talked to a good friend via facebook today. Realised that a simple conversation can really make my day!! Even though it was just an exchange of sentences, I felt really happy that someone talked to me and entered my world. LOL. Thanks Yan Ming! :D
Felt refreshed by the presence of God in service today. The Word was fantastic too!
Tomorrow is gonna be a start of a brand new week.
I pray I will have wisdom, favour and confidence in my workplace!!
I pray I will throw all the baggages of my life to God so that I can RUN THE RACE with ease!
THANK YOU JESUS for making life so beautiful and worth living!! I love you =D

Dear Blog,

I kinda miss you! haha.

Had a great dinner with a friend yesterday, and I commended that I really enjoyed some of her blog entries.

She is a person really down-to-earth, and is true to herself while blogging. No wonder I can relate to some of the entries she writes, as she is good at describing some scenes & moments and make them "come alive".

This friend of mine is very intelligent, and has an inquisitive mind.

I enjoyed the conversation, and hope to have more of such quality time spent like these in future.

I am really thankful a classmate of mine brought me to CHC when I was 17 years old. Because of church, my whole life has changed for the better. I have friends whom I can call family. I have leaders in church who can give me wise counsel from the Bible whenever I am at a loss of what to do. I have role models to look up to. I become more positive. There is much laughter at my home now, and my relationships with my dad, mum, sis & bro improved a lot.

Thank God for church, for City Harvest, for Pastor Kong, Sun and other church leaders as well.
I am thankful. Thank you Jesus always for your grace & mercy upon my life. I love YOU! :D

Work/Life Balance

I am on leave today & tomorrow. Feels soo gd to have personal time to spend after having worked continuously for so long. Working life is standard - 9am to 6pm everyday and sometimes you just have so little time to do the things that you enjoy, as I will end work past 7pm sometimes.. I love weekends, where I can simply stay at home and do nothing :)

I hope to be more active on facebook as my facebook homepage is soo boring!! haha. Need to fill it up with updates so that everytime it is not just "I commented on so & so's status or likes so & so's status" but really have something to talk about.. hahaha. How I wish I can update my status everyday!! :D Be it the good things or not, just update my statuses.. how fun will it be..

Anyways, I recently became a CGL - praise God and thank God for that!! My CG consist of people around the same age as me, some are older than me. They are very fun people, I hope to fellowship with them more often.. Truly the kingdom of God is a kingdom of relationships.. I pray that I can get to know them better, and pray that God will guide me & lead me to be a good leader. I also pray that I can have a shepherd's heart, and rely on my "shepherd's instinct" to do ministry.. HAHA..

Thank you Jesus for everything.. Tuesday Leaders' Meeting was really uplifting! Church is always a place of refuge where I can run to whenever I am stressed, in both good times & bad times. I felt so blessed after the meeting, and kept singing songs in Derrick's car.. THANK YOU DERRICK & RUXIN for always driving me home on Tuesday nights if mtgs end late at Jurong West :D Derrick & Ruxin are really very generous & awesome senior leaders... Thank you so much for sowing into my life... May God bless you super-abundantly back!! :D

Recent Updates

Had an awesome family day last Sunday (4 Apr 10)!!
My whole family went to pay our respects to my granddad & grandma who passed away a number of years ago. We sat in dad's cab all day long.
My dad is a taxi driver who drives the night shift. I love the smell of his car.
Thereafter we went to tour one round around the new casino at Sentosa.. Just to take a look.. Haha. I love the long car journeys throughout the day as I felt like I am a daddy's girl once again! haha. Cools. Thank God for great family time together.
A colleague who is around the same age as me got married last year. She misses her dad & mum a lot and tells me that you'll really miss your parents after you get married, so better treasure them now.. Mummy & daddy, I LOVE YOU!!! :D I hope to communicate more with daddy this year.. :D
I am very proud of my CG cuz they are people full of love & care. They are extremely generous too. The act of being there to encourage one another simply touches me!! I hope to be more communicative & speak kinder words to people everywhere I go. I also wanna SMILE MORE because Sun once says that the love that one gives away will never disappear, it will simply be deposited in another person's heart. So it doesn't hurt to smile/laugh more often!!
O Jesus, help me to be a more like You this year! :D

Lessons Learnt

Last Friday, I shared a testimony of how the Lord rescued me and opened an alternative door for me when I did not do well in a particular module in NUS the last semester.

This testimony was long overdue. Supposed to share it before I graduated last May in 2009. However, I only decided to share it today because I thought we were having a University CG meeting, so sharing something related to studies and uni would be great. At first I was hesitant, because it did not sound glamorous at all.

However, after sharing the testimony, I felt that the people really thanked God and praised Him. Because the testimony really showed how GREAT and GOOD God is, and I really have NOTHING to boast about myself.

Thereafter, I heard Him telling me in a still small voice, that, truly it is not the big things that would wow people. It is the things that are deemed insignificant in people's eyes, that would bring glory to His name. This reminds me of a bible verse that God would often use the simple to shame the wise, in 1 Corinthians 1: 27-29:

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. [28] He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things — and the things that are not — to nullify the things that are, [29] so that no one may boast before him.

Hence, next time whenever I share a testimony, I pray that it will be always about how AWESOME Jesus is, and it is because of his GREATNESS, GOODNESS, MERCY and GRACE that I can share a testimony. It is NOT about how great I am, or what I have done to deserve something. Thank you JESUS. I do not want to have anything that I can boast of myself. Bring me to a place where I can acknowledge ALL your GOODNESS and GREATNESS, MERCY & GRACE in my life, that without YOU, I will be nothing. THANK U LORD.

CK Family

Like what Hui Juan said on Facebook, that she will never trade anything for the CHC experience.. I totally agree, and I pray I will not trade anything for the church and CK experience as well.....

Being part of a family is truly life's greatest blessing. Besides my natural family, I am glad someone took me in to be part of the CK family.. To have great leaders who are always so passionate about Christ and for His house. To constantly fight at the forefront for the better of the lives of many people in our church, and our zone.

Thank you Pastor CK, Kee Liang, and CK Zone. I am very proud to be part of this family :)

Am so happy for her when I saw her photos with Ben on facebook!! They look so compatible!! Really! haha.

Darice & Ben, may 2010 be the best year yet for the both of you!! :D

Darice was the helper who took care of me as a young Christian when I first came to City Harvest Church. I remembered that time I was in JC2, and was really bad at Math. I did not like Math at all because I was inconsistent in doing my tutorials, and did not really figured out what the lecturer was saying during class.

However, I remembered one phone call I had with Miss Darice on a Saturday morning that changed my perspective about Math, and realised that it is actually an interesting subject that made sense!!

Darice taught me about Functions in a one-hour long phone call during which I was still lying on my bed. And there and then she described to me the different graphs of f(x), etc etc and why they were drawn in those manner.

In a simple phone call, I realised that she was a great teacher and had tremendous patience. I was touched indeed.

There were days when I could call Darice and just chat about things. And we would talk about Jesus and about our futures till late at night. Looking back, I really miss those days. Darice is a person who is so full of love, and every time when I talk to her, I would feel very at ease.

Thank you Darice for making a great impact in my life. As I looked through your blog just now, memories of yesteryear began to fill my mind!! :)

Jesus has already fulfilled your wish about having a boyfriend who loves God and loves CHC wholeheartedly, so you can remove that item on your wishlist now!! :D

Looking forward to the day when you two will be blissfully married :D

Thoughts About 2009

How time flies! We had an awesome service in church today. Really loved the song performed by Annabel, Alison & Sandy! It was an awesome trio and they were SO GOOD! Seriously. Haha. Loved the fact that they performed a guy's song and added a special touch to it. Really fantastic.

2009 came by and passed. But I am really thankful to Jesus that this is the year I have grown in my self-esteem. I have become a much more confident person. I pray that in 2010, I will become a much more confident person, like you know.. going on to perfection. haha. I pray that my sense of self will be rooted in Christ Jesus alone.

Just wanna take this opportunity to thank Pastor for all the teachings on grace that he has taught us. That we are of Jesus' tribe. That we are all loved and accepted by God, that we do not need to do more things to earn his favour or to impress Him. Truly salvation is by faith and not works. Thank you linying for telling me this a long time ago.

In 2010, I also pray that I can forge strong godly friendships in church, so that life as a Christian will always be meaningful.

Thank you Pastor & Kee Liang for ever believing in me. Thank you the senior leaders like Ruxin who always give me opportunities to perform onstage. Haha. Thank you W357 & W476 with all your friendship, encouragement, cards, JOKES and sharings. I used to not enjoy certain times with you.

However, after hearing JJ's testimony today, I am convicted that we should all cherish our friends and family members who are still around. If not, it will be too late to let them know how much you love them. Hence, I just wanna say, I LOVE YOU ALL. Thank you so much for all your imprints in my life in 2009 :D 2010 will be the BEST YEAR YET TO COME! AMEN! :D

Sing Sing Sing

I have been working for almost 4 months now.

working life in a french bank is nice at first, because the view from my office is really NICE, can see the seas at the Marina area and the 3 blocks of casinos coming up.

i keep telling myself, one day, i'll fly away, to the vast oceans, to visit the world... HAHA.

there are many french/swiss expats in my office. but seldom have a chance to lunch with them cuz they seem like busy ppl..

i hope to lunch with abby, adora and ym more often, but sometimes they are just so busy till we can't even meet for lunch, even though our workplace is soo near one another...

hmms. my manager is really good, she loves to buy things for me to eat. otherwise in terms of career advancement, i dunno if i will really stay long in the present company. i love to sing, dance, act and perform. the things that i do now in a french bank are totally not singing, dancing, acting and performing.. HAHA.

wow... it has been soo long since i last updated my blog..

was reading my previous entries and realised that i was really childish in the past (like earlier this yr.. HAHA!)

hmmm.. felt a bit funny to read back-dated entries which i wrote..

anyway, i attended an Overnight Prayer Mtg in church yesterday.. and yes, Pst shared a great sermon from the book of Ruth..

and the gist of it is this - that God is ever-ready to bless, ever-ready to give. The problem is whether we are READY to receive!! :D

Wow Pst Kong is on twitter. did you follow him on that? I do, almost everyday, because his days are always filled with adventure. haha.. like dining at Woolloomooloo Wharf, sailing in the sea, etc etc!

His friendliness also made me realised a BIG revelation - that God is a super-friendly God! haha.

Well because of that, I gotta live life joyfully every single day, thanking Him for all the good things He's done for me in my life! Thank you Abba Father! :D

Marriage/Relationships

Today's service was soo good as Dr Dyson talked about family/relationships between the husband and wife.

Wells, I left the service with several thoughts as I never knew that marriage is actually a "classroom"in which our character is refined and we becoming more Christ-like in the process.

And, there is actually no marriage in Heaven. Haha. You either learn it now or you don't.

So, I learnt a big lesson that marriage is actually about me being the right person myself for my spouse, and not me trying to "harp" my future husband into becoming the perfect husband for me. Haha.

Really, Christianity is again about servanthood, being an awesome person myself so that I can be a blessing to others.

I hope God can give me a BIGGER heart and capacity, so that I can appreciate all the peope around me in my life, and love them like how Jesus will (although this is really a HUGE statement per se), and be a less self-centred person.

25 Random Things About Tiffany

U know, there has been a fad on Facebook recently, titled "25 Random Things About Me."

I thought a list of 25 is way too long, i shall cut it short to 10. HAHAHA..

so here it goes!!

1) I had a completely boyish haristyle when I was in primary school - for the whole of 6 years. and it looked as if it was cut placing a bowl on top of my head as a guideline.

2) I have a fad for chocolates.... but too much of it makes me gain weight... and i gain weight real quick!! :(

3) I enjoy taking the Theatre Studies module in NUS. It is the most interesting session I've ever attended because there are practical sessions in a dance studio which I can act and hop around in front of a HUGE WALL OF MIRROR for 2 full hours every week. HAHAA..

4) I would love to go the the USA one day, maybe for my honeymoon trip! ^^

5) I like to act and pose in front of a mirror, but sometimes I'm really shy, so I gotta be BOLDER in this aspect!!!

6) I enjoy long telephone conversations with my best best friends. haha. but that was a long long time ago.

7) one of my best friends in secondary sch - her email add is sunnyhobbit@hotmail.com. hahaa..

8) I'm a really talkative girl, can chat like non-stop. My late grandma used to call me "Little Bird" in the Kiangsi dialect because I am really a chirpy girl!! I'm the most talkative person in the family.

9) I like to bug ppl - Why is this happening? why is that happening? when I'm watching shows, so my family can't really stand me in this aspect. hahaaha.

10) I am so blessed to be in CK zone, so blessed to know the leaders in CK zone, ppl like darice, huijuan, keeliang, linying, pastor, evelyn. they form a huge core of my friendships in the church. and of course, cheryl, tina, aron chew, yujie, lina, ailing, aileen goh. i think life will be really miserable if i hadn't met you guys!!! hahaa.. really!

you gave me so much laughter and love. thank you for being my brothers and sisters in Christ!

and now, we're a family that loves, loves, loves, loves another... we're a family that cares, cares, cares, for our sisters and brothers.... ^^ Thank you for being my family! :D

haven't been blogging for SOOOO LONG... until recently abby bugged me, and, i went to read up on Pastor CK's and Evelyn's blog... hahaa.. and i was so amazed by their blog entries!

haha. although they are our leaders in this zone, their blogs are sooo candid and funny, and they are so REAL. hahaha. that's why i've plucked up the courage to tell myself that hey, my blog entries can also be intersting, funny, witty, candid!!

thanks to pastor and evelyn and keeliang also lah. haha.

anyways, was reading kee liang's blog. didn't know that he and President Obama shared so many similarities. haha. i'm sure keeliang will become somebody great like President Obama one day!! :D

i just wanna tell the whole world how awesome my cell group members are. haha. i never had so much fun with them apart from the karaoke night we went together (kinda sua gu right..haha). and i'm now more in tune with the W357 facebook account. haha.

dear cell group members, i may not have the time to comment on each and every photo posted on our facebook account, but i just wanna say that u guys are SO BEAUTIFUL - every single one of you - are soo soo beautiful. haha. thank you for making our cell group so fun, bubbly, warm, generous and CRAZY!!!
